Lithuania has commented on the threat posed by Russia’s military buildup in the Baltic region. The prime minister, Ingrida Simoniete, said Russia’s threat to increase its military presence in the Baltic region, including nuclear, was “nothing new”
Lithuania is an Eastern European country bordering NATO member and Russian ally Belarus. There is some panic among the people of Ukraine over the Russian invasion. Lithuania shares borders with NATO and European Union members Poland and Latvia. The country also shares borders with the Russian enclave Kaliningrad in the Baltic Sea.
