Former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has been named in Pakistan’s new cabinet. But this time he has been made the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Hina Rabbani Khar was the Foreign Minister of Pakistan from 2011 to 2013.
Hina Rabbani has repeatedly emphasized the importance of improving relations with India, which has lost hostile relations with Pakistan. He made the remarks while talking about Pakistan’s foreign policy after taking over as foreign minister.
In an interview with Pakistan’s Geo Television, Hina Rabbani Khar said it was not possible for Pakistan to “win Kashmir by war”. Progress in this regard is possible only on the basis of mutual trust with neighboring India.
Hina Rabbani believes that no solution can be reached through hostile relations between the two neighboring countries. According to him, it is possible to move forward only through negotiations.
Hina Rabbani Khar, a highly educated man from the United States, entered Pakistani politics through the Pakistan Muslim League (Qaeda Azam). But within a few years, he changed his party and joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He became the foreign minister during the PPP government.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahbaz Sharif has come to power after defeating Imran Khan in a no-confidence vote in parliament. Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother Shahbaz was sworn in as the country’s 23rd prime minister a week ago. Members of his cabinet were sworn in on Tuesday. In addition to 31 ministers and 3 state ministers, 3 have been sworn in as advisers to the prime minister.
A full list of new ministers has not yet been released. However, various Pakistani media outlets have reported on the ministry of some of them. Among them are Shahbaz Sharif’s party PML (N) leader Maryam Aurangzeb Information and Azam Nazir Tara Law Minister. Another PML (N) leader Ahsan Iqbal has been made Minister for Planning and Development.
Besides, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah has been made Home Minister, Miftah Ismail has been made Finance Minister and Aisha Gaus Pasha has been made State Minister for Finance.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Aminul Haque, who left the ruling coalition and joined the opposition before the no-confidence vote, has been given charge of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications. He has also handled this ministry in Imran Khan’s PTI government.
Although Hina Rabbani Khar has been made the Minister of State for External Affairs, no one has yet been named as the Minister in this Ministry. Despite reports that PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto is set to become foreign minister, he was not among those sworn in as minister today.
