Hailey Flynn, specialist reporter for The Evening Wiki spoke to us about the news outlet looking to take over Dagenham news. The Evening Wiki forms part of Transparency, an organization of ‘rights reformers and revolutionaries’.
“I work closely with our CEO, Jabari Cubane, as we are a start-up and have a tight-knit group. Barking and Dagenham and its surrounding areas are rarely represented in national press, almost as if we have been forgotten, and we believe social, political, and legislative change is triggered by media interest.
Therefore, if we are not represented in the press, we will not be represented on a national level in making any real change to our communities and life experiences.
Our workforce and the people that represent us are all deeply passionate about positively changing our world. We have all witnessed first-hand the detriment and subsequent ripples instigated by corruption and abuse of power, when powerful organisations adopt toxic attitudes.
We need to start holding powerful organisations accountable for their actions or inactions. That is the way to cause correction in the modern world, and that is what we vow to do; day in, day out, we are devising long-term plans to achieve this for different objectives.”
The Evening Wiki reaches the heart of people in Dagenham and similar areas, and a glance at their social media platforms shows this. Their press platforms have only been in operation for a month thus far, so the future certainly looks bright, and wish them all the best in their long term aims.
